Grade 2: Personal Narrative
Do you need some help organizing your story?
- Write the events in the order in which they happened. To check, close your eyes and pretend you are watching a movie of what happened. Does the order of events in your story match the order in your movie?
- Write only about events that are important to the main part of your story. Take out sentences that do not belong in your story.
I began looking all over for my hamster. First I looked under all the furniture in the living room. Then I noticed that the hall closet door was open, so I looked inside. There was a pile of boots on the floor, and I started pushing the boots out of the way. I found a mitten I had lost last winter. [That sentence was not important to the story.] Soon I found Goldie. She was inside a boot!
