Get your readers interested right away.

Begin with a topic sentence. The topic sentence tells the main idea of your instructions. Say something that will make your readers want to know more.

Not interesting: I'm going to explain how to play dodge ball.

Much better: If you like fast, exciting games, you'll love playing dodge ball.
