Grade 7: Opinion Essay

If your introduction might leave your readers cold, try one of these ideas.

Pop a question.

Who'd want to wait in line and buy overpriced popcorn and drinks? I'd rather watch a video at home than go to a movie theater.

Describe a scene.

When I wake up on Saturday, sunlight streams through the window. I pick up my book, prop up my pillow, lean back, and read for an hour. There's no mad rush on this the best day of the week.

Give an example.

Last year I caught a slippery pig in the pig scramble. This is just part of the excitement of going to the county fair.
