Grade 6: Story

Your story doesn't take place in a vacuum! Show your reader where it happens.

Describe the physical setting.

The mountain was covered with snow. Jagged cliffs fell away into the valley. Near the mountain's peak, tucked in a hollow, stood a cabin, smoke curling from its stone chimney. It looked cozy in that desolate place.

Give details that show the time period.

As Ernesto entered the gate of the castle, he saw guards on horseback, wearing shiny armor. Ernesto loved horses! Could he become a guard too?
