Don't simply restate your opinion.

Opinion: Horned toads make fine pets.

Not a reason: I like keeping a horned toad at home.

Strong reason: By caring for this pet, I've learned a lot about lizards.

Give reasons that relate to your opinion.

Opinion: Having an allowance helps kids learn to manage money.

Unrelated reason: You can get a great deal on a sandwich at Lumpy's Luncheon Lagoon.

Related reason: Deciding what to save and what to spend makes me think about each purchase I make.
