Grade 6: Personal Narrative
If a jumble of events makes your narrative hard to follow, try these ideas.
- Put the events in time order. Don't jump around!
- Use time-clue words to help your reader follow the story.
The next time I checked the cake in the oven, it had risen high above the pan. I gasped, immediately realizing I had used too much baking powder!
- Stay on topic. Don't include events that aren't related to your story.
- Don't give boring background information. Jump right into the story!
