Newville Elementary is a rural school with an enrollment of 383 students

Purpose of study:
Measure progress over time of Soar to Success students

Methodology:
The students chosen for the program were reading significantly below grade level. They received 40 minutes of Soar instruction, 4-5 days a week from their classroom teacher. A pre- and posttest was administered to measure progress.

Measures/indicators used to assess effectiveness:
Soar to Success Informal Reading Inventory, Forms A and B, Level 5

Findings: The students' comprehension went from an average 28.7% on the pretest to 71% on the posttest.
