I think that this book is awesome and that lots of people should read this book. The page that I like has singing birds. I love singing birds because they sing beautiful songs. I also like the page where the mom and dad are sitting down on the grass with the baby. So I think that everybody will love it very much. The author is homesick of both places that he went to visit, but even if it has a sad part or two I still like this story. I still think that it is awesome. So that's why people should read this book. It's pretty and sad, but some people like pretty and sad parts in movies and books.  My friends would like this book.

I liked Grandpa's Journey because I like the words they used. I think Japan is a good country to base it on. I thought it was cool that he traveled from Japan to North America. I think that “Grandfather’s Journey” is a good story. The author uses interesting words and descriptions instead of the usual boring words. The story is cool because it took place a long time ago. The book I’m reviewing is titled Grandfather’s Journey. It was written and illustrated by Allen Say. The story is about a man telling a story about his grandfather’s adventure from Japan to the United States. I loved the story. I especially enjoyed the illustrations. The cover of the book is my favorite illustration because it shows vivid and colorful details as the grandfather stands on a boat’s deck with strong, active ocean waves behind him. My favorite part of the story was when the grandfather went back to Japan to marry his childhood sweetheart. Even though he loved the United States, he still returned to his homeland to marry his childhood sweetheart. After marrying, the grandfather brought his new wife to San Francisco Bay where they had a daughter. I would recommend Grandfather’s Journey because it is a great story.  My friends would like this book.

I feel sad because after the war in Japan the kid's grandfather died and because his grandfather didn't go to California.
