Weather Clock
Science
Children will make a circular weather indicator to record the day's weather.
What You Need
- Construction paper or dark cardboard
- White paper plates or cardboard circles
- Scissors
- Paper fasteners
- Markers or crayons
What to Do
- Brainstorm with children symbols for what the weather conditions might be on a given day. For example: clouds, sun, rain/snow, windy, hot, cold.
- Have children draw around the outside of the cardboard circles six symbols for the weather.
- Have children cut out two or three arrows from construction paper or cardboard.
- Help children attach the arrows with brass paper fasteners to the center of the circle.
- Show children how to indicate the weather of the day by pointing the arrows to the correct symbols.
- Invite children to "set their clocks" to the appropriate weather at the start of each day.
