Creepy-Crawly Creatures

Children will have fun graphing their favorite creepy-crawlies.
What You Need
- poster board
- paper and pencils
- crayons or magic markers
- Sample Graph (PDF file)
What to Do
- Have a small group of children ask their classmates the names of their favorite creepy-crawly creatures. Then have another small group make a bar graph on poster board of their classmates' responses. Other children may want to decorate the graph with drawings of the creatures represented.

Teaching Options
- In addition to the math activity, you might want to use the bar graph poster as a starting point for a writing assignment, such as “A Day in the Life of a Spider,” or for a discussion about why these creatures are favorites.
