Hello Out There!
Students will research and debate the possibility of life on other planets.
What You Need
- access to the Internet or library reference materials
What to Do
- Divide your class into two groups. Ask one group to research evidence supporting the existence of life on other planets; ask the other group to research evidence that life does not exist elsewhere. Tell each group to prepare an argument supporting their side of the issue. Remind them to amass as many facts as possible to back up their arguments.
- Have the two groups present their arguments in a debate.
Life Beyond Earth
This PBS website takes a look at whether or not there is life elsewhere in the universe, and how we could find out.
This website from NASA maps out the questions that scientists are asking about life beyond Earth and how they could answer them.
